Richard Bampfield has worked in the wine business for over 25 years, with his CV including management roles in retail, marketing and distribution. For the last seven years, he has run his own business, along with his wife Jackie, specialising in wine public relations, corporate wine events and trade consultancy.
They are not involved in buying and selling wine, and intentionally buy off a range of wine suppliers so as to retain their impartiality. Consequently, there is never any pressure to buy wine at their events.
Richard is one of only 250
Masters of Wine in the world, a title which sets high expectations and which demands that his knowledge of the wine business and wine tasting remains fully up to date. He is a natural public speaker, with an acknowledged ability to inform and entertain, without talking down to an audience.
He and Jackie are fluent French speakers and are particular specialists in the wines of Bordeaux, Champagne, Burgundy and England – in fact they currently consult to major producers in each of these wine producing areas.
